As summer fades, the September equinox offers a moment of balance, a precise alignment between the Sun and the Earth. For an instant, both hemispheres receive the same light before their seasons reverse. This phenomenon reveals how cosmic cycles resonate within our own rhythms, and how that seasonal nostalgia intertwines today with a present marked by climatic transformations.
The End of Summer is an installation that captures the bittersweet sensation of a departing season, evoking for the last time the scent of sun cream, tanned skin, and the suspended time of unproductive days. Through a paddle tournament under the glow of domesticated UV radiation, like a new technified sun, the project celebrates what remains of summer while gazing towards its end.
This end of summer also gestures towards an uncertain horizon, where a world of eternal summer and blurred seasons redefines our landscapes and practices. Will we cease to live summer as we know it? Will it still make sense to sunbathe beneath a scorching sky? What new narratives and customs will arise from this transformed summer?
In the face of these questions, The End of Summer invites us to experience the sweetness of summer before its irreversible mutation.
