How can affections be traced with the invisible? Can a space be returned to the city in this way?
The ceremony in the shelter will be a collective experience, in which reflection will take place on the acceptance of otherness. Otherness, in this case, as a whole that encompasses human and non-human life through buried architecture, vanished natures, and experience. In this way, the aim is to open a dialogue with the citizens about these places, their heritage, and unknown ways of inhabiting them. For this intervention, what appears in the underground will not give prominence to the rhythms of human life, but rather to the rhizomes that traverse the city. A simulation of invasive roots will be arranged along with a series of objectual elements throughout the space, which will not only have particular meaning but will also generate different sensations for the attendees. All of this will be illuminated by candles, candles that have followed a special journey. In June 2021, I gave a workshop at CC. Las Cigarreras, within the project Shared Fictions in the Secadero, together with the collective La Cuarta Piel. In an open session, small sculptural candles were made with care. Each citizen left one of the candles made in a common structure, knowing that these would become part of a future ceremony.
