If I had not been planted (si no hubiera sido plantado) is part of an investigation that describes the city with parameters that aim to move away from the city as a machine for productive living. The work looks into the minor architectures, and establishes affections with the smaller urbanisms: the survivors of the functional city.
A centenary tree “ficus macrophylla” was photogrametrised and digitised to live in the digital world. These trees are considered historical heritage and it’s forbidden to touch them in physical space. The translation is produced by a massive accumulation of information where 974 images record each one of its nooks and crannies. A simultaneous overlapping of photographs and layers of crust makes it possible to re-territorialise these living sculptures.
The image consists of a speculative construction process where the given shape is rebuilt with bricks in a fictional world where they were never planted.
